Growing up in a Muslim household, I’ve seen the many complex stages my sisters have had with this simple piece of fabric known as the hijab. One of my sisters has worn it for as long as I can remember, while the other three have had their own sacred journey of wearing it and choosing to take it off. At the end of the day, if you are here, it’s because you too are on your own beautifully sacred journey with the hijab. With my career in fashion and the constant “When are you going to design for Muslims?!” from my sister Noor, I was inspired to create Sahar New York. (Also named after my youngest sister)
Whatever stage you’re in on your hijab wearing journey, I want you to join my sisters in knowing your worth and how divine this step can be for you. It may not be easy, but Sahar is here to support and inspire you. It’s my wish that you embrace all of who you are and live confidently and brightly as a Muslim.
Know, that the beauty of our scarves is inspired by our unique relationship with Allah and I hope with our hijab and your faith, you will be inspired to carry his strength and grace on your journey of Islam.
